The Kubrick

Named for Stanley Kubrick, the visionary filmmaker who reshaped modern cinema, The Kubrick carries that same spirit of precision, detail and daring use of colour.

This luminous new landmark set in the leafy heart of Freemans Bay comprises 52 apartments over nine levels in two-, three- and four-bedroom configurations. There’s an extraordinary range of floorplans and many have ‘A’, ‘B’ and even ‘C’ options. The homes at The Kubrick range from 60-280sqm and enjoy enhanced access to light and cross-flow ventilation due to the building’s serene internal courtyard with a Japanese-inspired garden.

For those seeking an extraordinary urban home, there are four sub-penthouses – all with generous 3-metre ceilings, expansive outdoor living and sweeping views – and an entire floor penthouse so dramatic, it should probably have its own agent.

At Ockham, we believe shared spaces carry weight because life needs room to breathe. For The Kubrick we have dedicated over 600sqm to best-in-class common facilities. There’s a residents’ lounge with gourmet kitchen, a drinks suite, an outdoor covered pool, a 120sqm gym with sauna and ice bath and an office with bookable boardroom. There are also 85 carparks with EV charging and generous storage options.

The development site is unique, bordered only by the gorgeous Harry Dansey Reserve to the north and west, the Freemans Bay Community Centre, Anglesea Street, and Pratt Street, offering a sense of privacy and connection to nature unusual in an inner-city suburb.

It is a leafy oasis, yet everything that defines Auckland’s most vibrant inner suburbs lies at your doorstep. The bustling restaurants, bars and shops of Ponsonby Road, Karangahape Road, and the city are just minutes away, along with some of the city’s best-loved public spaces, such as Western Park and Victoria Park.

The Kubrick is a rare flower in the heart of the city – a place of artistry and amenity.

Considered shared spaces

At Ockham, we believe shared spaces carry weight because life needs room to breathe.

For The Kubrick we have dedicated 616m² of space that will ensure onsite activities well into next century.

To find the perfect pastel bricks for The Kubrick, Ockham returned to the Sant’Anselmo brick company from Veneto, Italy.

Beautiful bricks

Founded by the De Checchi family in Loreggia, Northern Italy – not far from Venice – Sant’Anselmo’s kilns have been firing bricks for five generations. Today, Sant’Anselmo exports globally.

The vision behind The Kubrick

Rooms with a point of view

The interiors of The Kubrick draw inspiration from the extraordinary range of hydrangea hues. While the exterior glows with light-catching, opalescent bricks in the flower’s brighter tones, the palette subtly deepens as you step inside, shifting toward the richer, warmer shades of the flower.

From the entrance lobby with its finely grained porcelain tiles to the bronze custom-designed door handles, Rachel McLean of Harper Interior Design has picked every element of The Kubrick’s interior to feel timeless and elegant. The walls are finished in a light, textured plaster, complemented by custom carpets that subtly reference the burgundy and soft mauves of a hydrangea.

Design inspiration

Freemans Bay’s architecture has been shaped by bricks. In Auckland’s early decades, brickworks moved steadily westward from the city centre to Grey Lynn, Freemans Bay, Ponsonby and Newton, supplying material for the homes, factories and civic buildings.
