New to Grey Lynn - The Feynman

Aalto is our long-overdue debut in Morningside. It’s a boutique project – just 39 apartments – in a striking red-brick building inspired by Finnish designer Alvar Aalto.

Let’s take it from the top. Pull up a chair, blag a beanbag, lay claim to a lounger. Make yourself at home here in Aalto’s top-floor residents’ ranch, part of the communal hub which includes a separate work-from-home office, and guest bedroom for visiting chums. Now stroll out onto the rooftop terrace and step into one of the best views in Auckland. You’re king of the world up here, queen of all you survey — you’re part of the city, savouring the buzz, but tucked away in this oasis of calm. This is the life!

And this is the ’hood! Central to the Ockham ethos is that we build where people want to live. Close to public transport, close to the action. Aalto is just a minute’s walk from Fowlds Park. You’re five minutes from the eclectic marvellousness of Morningside and the train station. Less than 10 minutes stroll to Kingsland, 15 minutes to St Lukes, the same wander to Western Springs. The CBD is a mere 3.3km away: the bike path at the bottom of the street will have you in town inside 10 minutes.

Expected completion Q2 2023.

Features

Ockham 2.0: Building sustainable communities

We take the long-term view at Ockham. We make apartments but we build communities.

It’s why we build in buzzy ’burbs like Morningside, dynamic, well-connected neighbourhoods close to trains, buses, bikeways. It’s why our communal facilities are centrepieces, not after-thoughts: it’s why Aalto’s residents’ hub commands the prime spot in the building. We’re confident our residents will be drawn to the lounge, the beating heart of Aalto, to read, ruminate, chat and debate.

A skip through Morningside

Morningside: Impeccably Connected

You’ll need a nice pair of Nikes at Aalto — or All Stars or Allbirds or Birkenstocks or Blundstones — because you’ll want to walk everywhere. It’s just too quick, too easy — too central — to bother with checking bus or train timetables. You’re a four-minute stroll (300m) to Morningside, pound for pound the coolest ’burb in the city. The Kingsland Strip is a nine-minute walk (800m) away. St Lukes is 15 minutes (1.2km) one way, Western Springs Park the same distance the other.
