Ockham Post Graduate Scholarships in Statistics
Our latest development, Station R, is named after the creative achievement that is R Language.
R Language is an open source language and environment for statistical computing and graphics developed at the University of Auckland. R has become the most popular language for data science and an essential tool for Finance and analytics driven companies such as Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
R consists of an integrated suite of software facilities for data manipulation, calculation and graphical display.
As a thriving open-source project, R is supported by a community of more than 2 million users and thousands of developers worldwide.
R was initially written by Robert Gentleman and Ross Ihaka—also known as "R & R" of the Statistics Department of the University of Auckland in 1997. Station R is so named to celebrate the little known international success story of Robert and Ross’ intellectual creativity that is still unfolding just a few stops down the track!
We are proud to announce the Ockham Foundation Post Graduate Scholarships in Statistics that will help the University of Auckland Mathematics to remain at the forefront of statistical research. The two scholarships are for an amount of $25,000 each and be awarded later this year.
